BEST FALL HOME DECOR IDEAS FOR YOUR FRONT DOOR

A great fall wreath should be at the top of your fall decor list.

Because think about it … it’s the first thing guests will notice. So it is truly the most essential part of your home’s fall porch decor.

I have gone through a lot of phases of fall wreaths throughout the years.

But this year I decided I needed to change it up.

First, my fall wreath had seen better days. It gets a lot of afternoon sun and was starting to look a bit shabby.

Second, I painted our front door black a few years ago.

I really like how the new color dressed up our front porch. But the darker color definitely changed how some of my decor works with the door.

It needed more contrast. I knew I wanted something a bit softer in color than the wreath I previously had.

So I found some gorgeous choices that I absolutely love. And you will too!

This beautiful wreath is made of Boston fern and eucalyptus, so it’s ideal if you want to extend the life of the ferns on your porch. I feel guilty each year throwing my summer ferns out for my fall porch, when they’re still vibrant and growing. So this wreath will help tie the two seasons together.

On the top right, I love this gorgeous fall wreath made of brown magnolia leaves, as well as pomegranate fruit.

A beautiful melange of eucalyptus leaves, birch leaves and berries make the fall wreath on the bottom right a great choice for front doors of almost any color!

WHAT’S THE SECRET TO FALL STYLE?

Choose a wreath that will look substantial on your porch and fill your front door. The typical front door is 36 inches wide. So choose a wreath that will fill up that space. That’s why I selected a 26 inch wreath. It really fills my front door and is a great statement piece to welcome my guests.

BEST FALL HOME DECOR IDEAS FOR YOUR FRONT PORCH

When it comes to decorating your front porch, I think there is a bit of formula you need to follow to create great results.

What is that formula? Well here it goes …

First you need a wreath on the door. We’ve already covered that … LOL.

Next, I like some seasonal blooms in a great, striking planter.

I also like to layer a rug and a doormat, to create a truly homey look. It also helps to cover any imperfections on your porch’s floor.

And of course you need pumpkins. Pumpkins are the king of fall decor, right?

Finally, I love to add an additional light source or two, particularly around the front door. Lanterns perfectly fit that bill!

Follow these five easy steps and you’ll have a fantastic front porch!

Here are some great ideas I’ve curated for the perfect front porch:

This faux mum bundle in yellow with its multiple hues, as well as this copper mum bundle. They are just gorgeous!

These black modern lanterns are great for the porch steps or by the front door. I also love these tall, slender lanterns. They create a fantastic statement piece for your fall front porch or throughout the year.

And how cool are these modern black planters? They work great with this black striped, outdoor rug.

WHAT’S THE SECRET TO THIS FALL STYLE?

There’s one big secret I’m about to share. I am done with live mums. Yup. You read that correctly. Even if you soak them like you see in dozens of TikToks. Even if you water them daily (and really, who is going to water them every. day.?) And even if you buy the most perfect looking mums from your favorite local Farmer’s market … They are still going to look dried out in a week or two. It’s just reality. And I hate it because it’s so frustrating. And I have enough frustration in my life. Don’t we all? So this year, I’m caving. I’m getting the faux plants. It just seems like a better way to add fall flowers to my front porch. They’ll last from early September, through early October and beyond. So to me, they are so much better than the real thing. And I’ll be able to use them again next year!

BEST FALL HOME DECOR IDEAS FOR YOUR FALL TABLESCAPE

This photo says it all.

I love ambers, browns, ivories, gold and texture for my fall tabletop!

A few years ago, I found these brown transferware plates in my parents’ basement. I have no idea whose they were, where they came from, or how old they are.

And unfortunately, I have really no way to find out.

I know they are at least 50 years old, because that’s how long they’d been packed away in their “storage room.”

And I am 99.9 percent certain they were not “new” on the day they were packed away. I do know that when I pulled them out of their box, I instantly knew I had to keep them!

WHAT’S THE SECRET TO THIS FALL STYLE?

Keeping your color palate monochromatic. Resist the urge to throw in an orange or red piece. Just stay all within the same color palette. Trust me.

And I’ve picked out some great fall accessories to help you get started:

These beautiful velvet bow napkin rings … SWOON!

How delicious would a baked fall dessert taste in this Le Creuset White Enameled Cast Iron Pumpkin Cocotte? Yum.

Colored glassware automatically elevates every table. I love these plum stemless wine glasses, as well as these amber luster coupe glasses.

Imagine your first course, served on this off-white pumpkin appetizer plate. So elegant!

These European flax dinner napkins are PERFECT for every fall celebration.

BEST FALL HOME DECOR IDEAS FOR YOUR FALL LIVING ROOM

I don’t like to overdue my fall decor in my living spaces. But … that’s not to say I don’t like to add an element here or there to add a festive, fall touch.

My favorite way to do this is to add groups of pumpkins to spaces and nooks that already exist such as your console tables in your living room, family room and foyer.

Place a grouping in a tray with a candle on your coffee table. And, of course, on end tables.

WHAT’S THE SECRET TO THIS FALL STYLE?

Always group in threes. I love to put three pumpkins together within a group of three total accessories. So my end table might have a group of three pumpkins, a lamp and a colored glass dish. This rule of threes will simplify decorating throughout your home!

Here are some great fall pumpkin options to scatter about:

I love the texture of these boucle pumpkins!

This rattan pumpkin set is giving me ALL of the Serena & Lily vibes I can handle.

Amber glass is one of my favorites this time of year. And these amber pumpkins are perfect for my family room. You’ll love them too!

These LED pumpkin and gourd flameless candles are great to give your coffee table or mantle a cozy glow.

How great would a grouping of these felted brown, beige and ivory pumpkins be on your console table or sideboard? Adorable.

BEST FALL HOME DECOR IDEAS FOR YOUR KITCHEN ISLAND

If the kitchen is the heart of the home, then the kitchen island is the epicenter of the home.

You know I’m right!

So I love to throw a bit of festive fall flair on the kitchen island, just to make me happy. But don’t go overboard! You still need your kitchen island to be functional!

Here are some great fall home decor ideas to help add some seasonal color to your kitchen island.

Here are some curated items that I think work great on any kitchen island:

These glass vases are gorgeous and bring all the fall vibes. I love deep saturated hues and detail.

This copper candle is not only beautiful to look at, its pumpkin ginger scent is fantastic to smell.

This dried eucalyptus floral bundle is perfect for to place in the glass vases above or in this black pitcher.

I love this modern tray to place on the kitchen island and define the space for your fall vignette!

WHAT’S THE SECRET TO THIS FALL STYLE?

Decorate your kitchen with the rule of threes as well. I love how this grouping turned out. I’ve got a great white, ceramic vase that I filled with brown eucalyptus branches. I found an amber, knob glass candle that picks up shades within the eucalyptus perfectly. And for the third element, a modern black tray to section it off from the rest of the counter. PERFECTION!
