The Masters Golf Tournament, held the second weekend in April at Augusta National Golf Club, is an iconic event in the golf world.
Simply put, the Master Tournament is a favorite sporting event of every golf enthusiast and is one of the biggest golf tournaments of the year.
Masters Week begins on the Monday before the weekend tournament with the practice rounds, which run through Wednesday. The tournament rounds are Thursday through Sunday.
Some people prefer attending the practice rounds, instead of the actual tournament or tournament days, since it’s not as crowded and you can see more of the players.
If this is your first time attending the actual tournament, there are a few dress codes and rules you must follow. Here is the basic information you need to know before attending the tournament …
WHAT ARE THE PROHIBITED ITEMS AT THE MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT?
The country club does not allow cell phones on its property. The golf course also does not allow radios and TVs, food, beverages and coolers, rigid chairs, electronic devices, flags, banners and signs, golf shoes with metal spikes, cameras at tournament rounds, knives and weapons, strollers, ladders and photography aids (ie. tripods and selfie sticks), and large backpacks, bags or purses.
WHAT ITEMS ARE ALLOWED AT THE MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT?
Cameras are allowed on practice round days only. Small bags and purses; folding, armless chairs; binoculars; fitness trackers and smart watches; and mobility vehicles are also allowed.
WHAT IS THE BAG POLICY AT THE MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT?
Bags are permitted at the Masters Tournament. According to the Masters website, acceptable backpacks, bags and purses cannot be larger than 10″ x 10″ x 12″ in their natural state. Clear bags are not required.

WHAT TYPE OF SHOES SHOULD YOU WEAR AT THE MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT?
When you’re attending the Masters Tournament, you don’t have to wear golf shoes. In fact, Visitors are prohibited from wearing golf shoes with metal spikes at the Masters. Comfortable footwear is best because throughout the day, you’ll be doing lots of walking. A good idea is a great pair of white sneakers. I personally love these Vejas sneakers. They are the perfect pair of shoes to keep you comfortable all day.
WHAT IS THE MASTER TOURNAMENT DRESS CODE?
While there isn’t an official dress code for the Masters, all guests are expected to adhere to proper golf etiquette, which includes attire. This typically means no denim, no athletic wear, collared shirts for men and no tank tops for women. Basically, you should avoid anything overly casual. Dress as you would for a day at a private country club.

This pink gingham skirt is ideal throughout the entire season. And I love the v-neck golf shirt with it. White shirts can be tricky. Some are too thin and look cheap. But this shirt is simply perfect!
I LOVE this line of skirts because they come in an 18″ length. They are perfect for tall gals like myself. And how darn cute is that ruffle? Simply adorable!
The Masters is in early spring, so I’m still working on my tan. Sometimes I prefer to wear pants over a skirt. In addition, mornings on the course can be chilly, so pants are perfect. These Luxletic golf pants from Lilly Pulitzer are my go-to favorites. I have them in multiple patterns, as well as solid colors. They have just the right amount of stretch! You’ll love them!
An additional tip that is great for your Masters Week golf outfit, is a sun hat. A great hat is an essential item to include with your golf apparel, especially if you are a spectator. And a wide-brimmed hat is usually my go-to choice. I found this wide-brimmed straw hat and think it is just perfect! The pink bow in the back makes it adorable! And it’s packable! Simply ideal!
When actually playing golf, a baseball cap hat is my favorite. I cannot get over HOW CUTE this “birdie” cap is … ! And everyone always wants a birdie on the course, right?
At this time of year, you’ll want to bring an extra layer. The weather in Augusta can fluctuate. And even at home, the course can get chilly in the morning and equally brisk in the evening. I saw this Augusta sweater and fell in love with it! In addition, I also can’t get over how affordable it is at only $39. I was expecting a much higher price point …
